Standard Step Down Back Brace     

The Air A Med Step Down Back Brace is utilized in the treatment of lower back strains, chronic back pain, spinal instability, stenosis, and/or post-operative care. The brace works to stabilize the spine and provide motion restriction and compression that alleviates acute pain and assists in the healing process. 

For patients who need a back brace that supports them throughout the rehabilitation process, we created a versatile Step Down version. The Step Down begins with both our 15” high profile and 10” low profile panels for maximum support and immobilization. This brace can be stepped down by removing certain panels throughout the rehabilitation process. Maximum support is accomplished by the use of both the high profile and low profile panels. Medium support is accomplished by the use of the low profile panel. The step down process ends by removing the low profile panel which can then be utilized for everyday support. 

Our brace is equipped with an easy-to-use universal sizing system. The brace has several components that work in conjunction to offer both a customizable fit and optimal support. The universal sizing ranges from SM to 4XL, we also offer an optional extension panel that expands the brace up to 6XL. Depending on the patient's size, the side arms can be “cut to size” or folded along the indicated lines. The horizontal compression of the lower back is achieved through our specially designed pulley system. Our compound pulley system works by utilizing triple woven nylon-string and easy-to-grip pull tabs to achieve optimal compression of the lower back. The dual pull tabs attach onto the side arms by utilizing medical grade hook and loop fasteners.
